Current Volunteer Needs

We are no longer accepting applications for public engagement volunteer positions: Docents, Canyoneers, Whalers, and Naturalists. Our recruitment is primarily seasonal in nature, starting in April for new volunteer group trainings that begin in the fall. You can learn more about our public engagement positions here.

We are not actively recruiting volunteers for science department activities at this time. However, if you have specific educational or professional background in Ornithology, Mammalogy, Entomology, Herpetology, Botany, Archaeology, Paleontology, and Library Science, we welcome your inquiry for potential future opportunities. Learn more about these future opportunities or email for information.

Apply to be a volunteer

Our volunteer application and onboarding process is simple and straightforward. All interested applicants must:

  • Submit an application
  • Attend a virtual orientation
  • Have program-specific conversations with our recruitment committees (as necessary)
  • Complete a background check (The Nat will reimburse Livescan/background check costs)
  • Submit necessary forms

Selected applicants will undergo program-specific training that is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful volunteers for The Nat.

Interested in submitting an application? We hope so. Please do so here.
